The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said that the unit for combating cybercrime began a few days ago, in coordination with the other relevant departments, investigating a number of videos that were posted on social media after a football match ended.

The videos were investigated due to the legal and ethical violations in them which promoted hate and threatened violence.

The spokesperson confirmed that 14 people were arrested, all of whom are now detained in reform and rehabilitation centers. Six juveniles were also arrested and referred to the relevant judicial authorities.

Investigations are still ongoing in a number of other videos and publications, he added.

The Public Security Directorate stressed that such actions will not be tolerated as they perpetuate a discourse of violence that violates the law and such actions will be firmly dealt with.
